We spent our winter going to the cabin most weekends and skiing. Over spring break we visited the Heatleys in Utah with a stop in Moab on the way. In June we had a great vacation in Panama, with 4 days in Panama City and 4 days in Bocas del Toro. Nora had a fun camping trip with Gram & Pop in Yellowstone. Dono had an interesting trip with Gram & Pop - on the first day there was a trailer mishap that resulted in a brush fire that closed down I-70 and totaled a trailer. They recovered and had a fun time at Mesa Verde National Park. Both kids had separate overnight camps and other fun day camps. Over fall break we headed to Santa Rosa to visit the Fioris and Wickershams and fit in a quick dinner in Fairfax with the California Schuknechts. Most of fall was spent at home in Golden with sports and a remodel of the basement, laundry room, and upstairs bathroom. We returned to the cabin for our now traditional Thanksgiving with Jim, Barb, and Judy. We added a new "Schuk Chalet Sleep Shack" at the cabin to host more visitors and we hope everyone comes and puts it to use!
Dono turned 11 and started middle school this year. His favorite activities are skiing, baseball, playing clarinet, reading, and hanging out and playing Magic with his friends. He rides his bike to and from school every day, and plays tetherball or basketball after school when the weather allows. His chosen elective in middle school is band, and he qualified for the school district level honor band!
Nora turned 8 in October and is now in 3rd grade. She loves having fun with her friends, hover boarding, reading, skiing, rock climbing, making bracelets, cooking, and is starting to learn how to ride horses. Nora has been Cougar of the Month at school twice in 2024! She went to her first overnight camp this summer and loved it.
Kelly is still enjoying her job at Colorado Gives Foundation as the Director of Process Excellence and PMO. The work is challenging but so fulfilling to see the difference it makes in the community of Jefferson County and all of Colorado. She still rides horses regularly, skis, and runs as time allows.
Nate turned the big 4-0 this year and had a great party with so many great friends and family. He is still working at Array Technologies and was promoted to Engineering Fellow this year. He keeps busy with skiing, bike riding, hiking, and doing all kinds of great work at the house in Golden and the cabin.
Hoodoo is ... well, Hoodoo. He turned 3 this year. He loves catching frisbees, chasing bunnies, jumping in rivers, and running away from home (but always comes back).
